The tie this time is that each of the cards has art that ties it to a fairy tale, but previously it was things such as retro artifacts for The Brothers War (an artifact centric set which took place in the past) and Strixhaven s Mystical Archive (a fictional stash of powerful spells kept in a restricted area of Archavios)
The History of Populate in MTG Populate is the Selesnya mechanic for Return to Ravnica from 2012
Yidaro, Wandering Monster I really enjoy this card in 60-card decks where you have a good shot of drawing Yidaro again as you keep restocking those goods
There's also hate for counters (Vampire Hexmage), Storm/Spellslinging (Flusterstorm & Arcane Laboratory), lifegain (Archfiend of Dispair)), as well as a few extra board wipes and removal in case they play tokens or something with lots of creatures
That flexibility has made it a strong pick in Dimir Murktide as a value engine, and it even pops up in reanimator shells as a sneaky way to pitch key creatures while it advances your board
At best, you have Actions like Mother Knows Best and Dragon Fire but those dont always see play
