Withering Boons almost irrelevant cost of three life will get you out of a jam very quickly, even if its just a worse Essence Scatter
This is predominently found in Ratigan, Raging Rat and Ratigan's Party, Seedy Back Room , but John Silver, Ferocious Friend can enable it very easily, while Amber Chromicon can quickly heal damage from all of your characters for when it comes time for challenging
While it didnt end up quite like that, they still decided to include the mechanic as we currently know it
