TCG Pocket's battles are indeed slimmed down a little from the standard real-world ones (and those of the somewhat quaint-by-comparison TCG Live and TCG Online, which replicate the real-world ones precisely)
If you arent preparing for a Historic tournament, there are still plenty of great reasons to play the format
The idea behind your "curve" is to have a balanced number of cards with different mana costs to ensure you can play a card on every turn of the game
Token decks can take advantage of cards with powerful effects that need you to sacrifice a creature such as Deadly Dispute and Village Rites
Like all the cards in this cycle, Loyal Guardian is a solid card in the right deck, especially on a budget, but eventually I'd look to replace it with a different card that does the same thing but better
Surprisingly, we have a ton of interaction in the deck already due to these coin flip cards, with plenty of creature removal and even some lockdown pieces
