The ability to protect a spell or creature from interaction and still draw a card is very strong, and for only 1 mana
This can come at a very inopportune time if you've only got someone else's creatures to defend yourself against an opponent who is going off, and the owner of those creatures gets knocked out
Its also nice to have a 0-mana sacrifice outlet attached to a commander, though this one isnt nearly as powerful as the likes of Yawgmoth, Thran Physician

This simple ruling may not only completely ruin your opponents plans, especially if their deck relies on casting lots of spells, but also stop them from doing it altogether, which is a win-win for you anyway
