"Planar Portal" has more opportunity for power creep to factor into its gameplay, but "Merciless Rage" is more focused on one specific mechanic whereas "Planar Portal" has roughly three to consider
From my initial predictions, I was also able to predict Sephiroth having something like a wrath mechanic , which Sephiroth, Planet's Heir kind of does by debuffing all your opponents' creatures, potentially wiping out large swaths of weak token creatures
