About five years ago, those types of cards were much better since cubes were slower, but with many cubes adopting aggressive strategies and getting more efficient removal options, things like the Vindicate test (where you get an effect out of it if the creature dies at sorcery speed, so Consecrated Sphinx passes that test) hamper its effectiveness, but it does protect itself well if you are able to untap with it since you can turn just about any blue card into a counterspell or draw card
Im more and more interested in scalable designcards that have a modest initial mana value and effect, then have an additional, more expensive ability to have a splashier outcome
As such most cubes do well to support those Edicts a bit which in turn helps pure Edict cards perform well
We have yet to see any previews of Regalia, but if there is indeed one, it might just be a decent enough Vehicle that From Father to Son will see some play in Standard (or you just like some Final Fantasy flavour in your games)!
The set and decks all release on June 13th, 2025
As a trade-off for not costing additional mana, Welcoming Vampire 's triggered ability only allows you to draw one card per turn
