You never want to be in top deck mode, but it's nice to have a card that rewards you for being in a precarious situation

Using it for mana for a few turns and then turning it into two 2/2 spiders on the next is a pretty decent proposition , and even though it has sorcery speed stapled onto that effect, it's something for ramp decks to do when their draw is too many acceleration cards and no payoffs

You can look at it as pseudo-card draw, where you get to target the card you will draw, but with the condition that it needs to be a card already on board for you and which can be banished in a challenge
