Even if an attack is negated, that monster is still considered to have declared an attack that turn, so it cannot declare another attack and cannot change its battle position in Main Phase 2
I suppose you might think of this list this way: if someone else has them on the battlefield, are you likely to want to get rid of them

Actually, outside of a bit of sabotage from the other testees, the "smashing" (a duel with Trudge) is part of the test
However, none has ever managed to hold my interest for very long
