Note you can target yourself to discard and draw and it's a "may" effect

Testing with Izzet Phoenix featuring one copy of The Royal Scions led me to believe that it is likely one of the best cards in the archetype if you can build around it

This is the first Legendary card for Donald Duck (he had three other rarity cards in The First Chapter) so it's nice too see him featured as a high rarity card in the second set

Being single color means it can go into more decks and even when its not convoked, it has a perfectly reasonable casting cost for exiling any nonland permanent

Perhaps the current RDW is a bit slower out the gates so it has more time to stabilize
