When Pegasus decided to make the Egyptian Gods into cards, everyone involved in the project was killed by the angered spirits of the Egyptian Gods (they disappeared in the dub), so Pegasus decided to create the cards on his own, under the protection of his Millennium Eye
We have seen power creep in most areas of magic (only really excluding mana acceleration), both ultimately over the whole existence of the game, and more consistently in recent history too
Bushido is a fine, simple mechanic, but I find it a bit lacking
