Gitrog is a nice stax card that makes your opponent sacrifice a non-token creature every turn or deal with a 6/6 menace
In theory, you could play Invasion of Xerex to bounce something, use Yorion to blink the battlefield, and then use the battle to bounce Yorion, Sky Nomad, which would essentially let you blink your entire board each turn if you had enough mana
I didn't reflect that much on the name change, but it was recently pointed out to me on this blog that sphere of annihilation was an artifact in D&D made famous by the 1978 module Tomb of Horrors, and it is possible that they changed the name before print to avoid any conflicts regarding intellectual property
