but I believe that it dates to the 1980s

Please note that the top side has a satin finish while the underside is a matte weave and has more of the black colour apparent so that the colour is a darker red

The piece is marked Alero Sterling Silver on the backside Alero was a Mexican maker. I believe that the piece dates to the 1930s. Ive seen other examples of the this brooch, marked differently or not at all, and they lack the detail on this piece.
