In terms of gameplay, Odyssey was the first set that explicitly featured mechanics that revolved around manipulating your own graveyard, and it introduced the popular flashback mechanic (which allows you to play spells from your graveyard) as well as Threshold, which has been featured sparingly in following sets including in 2024s Bloomburrow
Firebending 2 on a 1-drop is dangerous, though it requires that you bin a lesson to really matter
You'll also see copies of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar (planeswalkers are great examples of reach) as well as Always Watching, an enchantment that gave your team +1/+1 and vigilance, keeping them relevant even if your opponent managed to play some big blockers
Spells like Thrill of Possibility and Tormenting Voice have been in decklists for years, so this design has a proven home
That said, it can take out indestructible and otherwise difficult-to-kill creatures, and comes in at a very reasonable four mana, making it a great option if you're going heavy on board wipes in mono-black
