枯れた良い古鉄です。油皿を取り外ぜば、花入としてもお楽しみいただけます。

古墳時代の把手付碗です。花を呼ぶ冷え枯れた須恵器の肌に、力強い把手が付いています。この様式は５世紀以降見られるようになったものです。

本品は鉄釉が掛けられており、長頚に双耳がついた仏花瓶を目指して作られたものでしょう。

日々の書き仕事に使われたのでしょうか。
