Hybrid cards allow us to get multicolor cards at one mana, so Deathrite Shaman is taking advantage of this (and you'll notice we tend to do a bunch of one-drop hybrid cards in Ravnica sets because of this)

This one definitely looks like a long shot, but I think it has real potential if we do get new Eldrazi support
