Elm Burl Egyptian Vase Sculpture jewellery swirls emerge and fall awayThis vase is made from a large elm burl. It was made by mounting the wood to a traditional wood lathe and turning it off centre. The natural edge of the burl gives the vase the look that something is missing or broken away, giving the piece the look of an Ancient Egyptian vase that has just been excavated. The vase is all handmade, with the artist using an additional woodturning tool to slowly carve away pieces, in the hope that the vase looks
