It can give itself lifelink so you can get some quick and easy life, it can give another powerful creature lifelink for even more quick and easy life, or it can give a blocked creature deathtouch so it's guaranteed to take a creature down

Charms and other modal spells are just great in Commander, too, because they effectively reduce the number of slots in your deck you need to devote to removal or utility effects
