As well get to shortly, Palantir of Orthanc actually looks rather powerful, however, its worth addressing something first
(10/1/2009) This ability has an "intervening 'if' clause." That means (1) the ability won't trigger at all unless any one of your opponents controls more lands than you, and (2) the ability will do nothing if you control at least as many lands as each of your opponents by the time it resolves
The Zodiac Stones are used by the villains for demonic power beyond mortal limits, and don't get much use in the hands of the heroes at all except for one exceptional case that proves they aren't inherently evil gems
But the real problem to begin with is perhaps that Wizards didnt have Black women artists on staff to create the character in the first place
